"Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge gets sharper ultra-wide-angle camera"

Samsung is working on the specifications of the S26 family, and of course that includes the number of megapixels. According to sources, especially the ultra wide angle of the S26 Edge will get a big upgrade from 12 to 50 MP. The S26 Ultra will not see many upgrades next year.
Information about the cameras comes from Winfuture which writes in very many words that the S26 Edge features a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle camera. Considering that the S25 Edge still had to make do with a 12 MP sensor, that's a pretty big leap forward.
It remains to be seen whether all those extra pixels are used for sharper images or better light output. More pixels does not automatically mean better images, but it is obvious. Winfuture found three models to represent the future S26 family; NP1, NP2 and NP3. The former will belong to the Galaxy S26, the latter to the S26 Ultra.
Next Paradigm
Until recently, we would think that the NP2 belonged to the S26+ but the Plus model seems to be traded in for the S26 Edge. The NP name is an abbreviation for Next Paradigm. The S25 series had the code name Paradigm.
Information also surfaced through the same source about the cameras of the S26 Ultra. These are not yet complete but talk about a 200MP main camera with 50MP telephoto camera with 5x zoom. If that sounds familiar to you; that may be true because the S25 Ultra features the exact same specs.
Personally, we think it's too early to pin down the final specs of the S26 series, so take things with a grain of salt. The launch of the S26 family is still six months away and anything can happen in the meantime.
