Tottenham agree deal to sign Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White – reports

Tottenham have set their sights on Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White as they continue to reinforce Thomas Frank’s squad ahead of the new campaign.

The 25-year-old attacking midfielder has caught the eye of several top clubs with his performances over the past few seasons, and Spurs are now looking to persuade him to make the switch to North London.

Gibbs-White joined Forest from Wolves in August 2022 for a deal worth up to £42.5 million, including add-ons.

Since then, he has established himself as one of the Premier League’s standout talents and earned international recognition with England. His contract at the City Ground runs until June 2027.

He is believed to have a release clause of £60m that Spurs are set to activate, with the player to undergo a medical on Friday.

Frank, who was appointed as Spurs boss earlier this summer, is known to be a long-term admirer of the playmaker and sees him as a key addition who could thrive under his system.

A move to Tottenham would also give Gibbs-White the opportunity to compete in the Champions League next season – something Forest cannot offer despite their strong league finish.

However, Forest do look likely to play in the Europa League next season in place of Crystal Palace, who may be removed due to multi-ownership problems with Lyon, who also qualified for the competition.

While Manchester City had previously considered a move for the English midfielder, they ultimately opted to pursue deals for Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders instead.

Gibbs-White was instrumental in Forest’s success last season, scoring seven goals and providing ten assists to help the club finish seventh in the Premier League and secure a spot in the Conference League.

He has also worn the captain’s armband on occasion and has recorded a total of 18 goals and 28 assists in 118 appearances since joining the club.

Spurs have already been active in the transfer market, sealing a £55 million move for West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus and bringing in Japanese defender Kota Takai.

Mathys Tel and Kevin Danso have also joined on permanent deals after loan spells.

Tottenham’s Europa League final win over Manchester United secured their place in the Champions League for the upcoming season.
