Samsung makes Galaxy Fold 7 official; thinner with better glass

As expected, Samsung has introduced the Galaxy Z Fold 7. A much thinner foldable with a front glass that is even stronger. Gone is the selfie camera under the screen (UDC), which makes the device look less futuristic but in return better quality.
Looking at the Z Fold 7 it is hard to say that we are looking at an evolution and not a revolution. So much has changed, both in appearance and under the hood, that we can't help but conclude that this is a completely different device. Still one that you unfold like a book, but this time much thinner.
While folded, the device measures 8.9 millimeters thick, once unfolded, only 4.2 millimeters of that remains. That's even considerably thinner than the S25 Edge, which derives its raison d'être from its thinness. With the Fold7, this time it does not come at the expense of its battery capacity, which is still 4400 mAh, just like its four immediate predecessors.
Thinner Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2
Of course, the Samsung Fold7 features the familiar innovation such as the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and the latest One UI 8 software. There are also subtle improvements like Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 up front. That we previously saw only on the S25 Edge and is thinner and sturdier. On the back, however, there is still the familiar Victus 2 glass.
No more S Pen support
The case is IP48 waterproof and also offers some protection from dust although caution is still required. Making the device thinner did come at the expense of S Pen support. As a result, the foldable can no longer be operated with a stylus, which was still possible on its predecessors.
Gone is also the selfie camera under the inside screen. This is 4MP camera has been exchanged for a better quality 10MP sensor. And the main camera has also been replaced. Gone is the 50MP sensor, in its place we find a considerably higher 200MP sensor. There are also newer memory versions up to a whopping 16GB/1TB in size.
You can buy the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 in Blue Shadow, Silver Shadow or Jet Black from July 25 in stores. Samsung itself is still exclusively selling a mint green version. Don't forget to bring a well-stocked wallet; prices start from €2099 and go up to a tear-jerking €2519. For the latter amount, Samsung does include six months of access to Google AI Pro with 2TB of online storage.
