Specifications Fairphone 6 released early

The specifications of the upcoming Fairphone 6 are out. WinFuture has the scoop, but we were able to find out where the specs originally came from.

We desperately need to look for an alternative to Google Alerts because the EAN codes of the Fairphone 6 known to us did not trigger an alert in time. Manual searches did yield some and so the scoop went to WinFuture. At least you now know what to expect on June 25 when the device becomes official.

The Fairphone 6 promises to be a slightly smaller phone with a 6.31-inch screen versus the 6.46-inch screen of the Fairphone 5. This time it is a p-OLED LTPO panel with a screen refresh rate of 120Hz. This makes images look just a little smoother than the previous model's 90Hz panel.

Other differences can be found with the cameras. The main camera still consists of a 50MP sensor but the second camera, which is an ultra wide-angle camera, goes from 50 to 13MP. The apertures are f/1.56 and f/2.2, respectively. Video can still be recorded in 4K, though. The selfie camera also goes up in resolution; from 50 to 32MP but does have a wider viewing angle of 120°.

No more IoT chipset

Biggest difference is the processor. Fairphone is moving away from the Qualcomm Dragonwing QCM6490; a chip not specifically designed for phones but for IoT solutions. The choice for this chip was that it would be supported by Qualcomm for a long time. Fairphone is opting for a more traditional chip this time; the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3.

We also see the usual small improvements such as faster WiFi thanks to support for WiFi 802.11ax, sturdier glass thanks to Gorilla Glass 7i and a slightly higher battery capacity of 4415mAh. We are still waiting for more images of the durable device. So far we've only seen the front, but the back is just where the change is. We can presumably attach accessories to that.

We are all going to see it June 25 when Fairphone will announce the device. We already have the invitation in our pocket and hope to tell you all the missing details soon.
