Samsung hints at first Galaxy Fold Ultra with press release

Samsung has just posted a press release on its website preparing us for the next generation of Ultra phones. In the accompanying photo, however, we see a foldable. Is the first Galaxy Fold Ultra imminent?
To date, we know no better than that Samsung releases a Fold and a Flip. Last year, the Special Edition was added; a thinner version of the Fold. But a fourth category is being added; the Fold Ultra. At least that's what this press release from Samsung suggests. It is also possible that the Special Edition will go by as the Fold Ultra from now on.
Samsung is not done with ultra-thin phones after the lukewarm reception of the S25 Edge. Especially with foldables, Samsung still has a world to win. After all, the Fold 6 is not very thin at 12.1 millimeters. The Fold Ultra should be a lot thinner. It was previously rumored that the Fold 7 would be as thin as 8.9 millimeters. Were we talking about the Fold Ultra all along?
When is the first Ultra foldable coming?
The press release does not otherwise report a specific launch date or other details. It only gives a scenario in which an Ultra foldable would come in handy in everyday situations. Something we like to believe, but would rather see in real life. For years, Samsung has listened to users asking for bigger screens, better cameras and new ways to connect and create. The demand is clear - an Ultra-experience that goes beyond a simple list of upgraded features in a smaller and more portable form factor. That's why Galaxy's next chapter is to provide an experience that seamlessly blends artistry and engineering to elevate everyday interactions
The sleuthing for photos of this foldable Ultra has now officially begun. Perhaps all along it just appeared to be the Fold 7 but we did not yet know what we were looking at. Immediately the question remains; what happens and then with the "ordinary" Fold 7? Questions we will hopefully have the answer to soon.
