Z Fold 7 will be Samsung's thinnest ever, but one detail throws a spanner in the work

No matter how thin you make a phone, physics will eventually get in your way. That's because a camera lens needs space. This sometimes leads to absurd solutions, as we saw earlier with the iPhone 17 Air. Even Samsung could not escape the laws of nature with the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 promises to be an extremely thin foldable phone. And that's not something Samsung has tremendous experience with. The Galaxy Fold Special Edition was a nice first attempt but the Fold 7 has been put on a much stricter diet. And then a bulging camera just stands out even more.
Samsung solves that by giving the camera module the shape of a trapezoid. In terms of volume, it does take up a bit more space, but it doesn't look as crazy as Apple (presumably) does with the iPhone 17 Air. The image above comes from a Reddit user who spotted the device in a case and shared it with us.
New generation ProVisual Engine
The thickness of the camera seems justified. Samsung would like to improve the camera quality considerably. It is doing so, on the one hand, with new and larger sensors and, on the other, with new software. For example, the resolution of the main camera goes up from 50MP on the Fold6 to 200MP.
On the software front, ProVisual Engine promises to get a major upgrade. At least that's what X user @PandaFlashPro claims. According to this source, image and zoom quality are going up and the camera of the Fold7 would shoot more stable video.
Launch possible in July
The launch of the 7th generation Fold would not be very long in coming. Thus, on Reddit promotional material intended for in a phone store appeared. From this we can deduce that Samsung wants to focus mainly on the thinness of the device..
The expected launch date is believed to be sometime in July; we don't have an exact date yet. Now that Google has officially released version 16 of Android that allows Samsung to market the device with that version. We may then also see One UI 8 based on it for the first time.
