Leaked battery capacity Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra disappoints

Although it may be some time before Samsung announces the Galaxy S26 Ultra, that does not mean they aren't working on it in South Korea. In fact, it's likely that the specifications are already set. Someone has now gotten their hands on the expected battery capacity. But that doesn't make us very happy.

We are increasingly seeing phones with batteries at least 6000 mAh in size. And we are not talking about big bricks, no about compact models around 6.3 inches in size. Models with a 6.9-inch screen potentially offer even more room for an even larger battery. So what is our surprise? In the S26 Ultra there is only a 5000 mAh one.

That's the same capacity as in the current S25 Ultra. Again? Seriously!!!

Surely, faster charging will be available then? Unfortunately, the answer to that is also disappointing. According to @UniverseIce, Samsung is sticking with 45W. The reason the battery size isn't increased and charging isn't made faster is a choice. Samsung is prioritizing the thinness of the device over improving specs.

So also keep in mind the same camera setup with the old familiar 200MP sensor. That too is going nowhere. So now that it looks like Samsung is going to make the S26 Ultra especially thinner, the question is whether this will come at the expense of the built-in S Pen. That one takes up quite a bit of space.

Again, this will be no different with the S26 Ultra

Samsung could always choose to keep the S Pen outside the device, such as in a separate case. Samsung does the same with the Fold 6. While that device supports the S Pen, you don't store the pen inside the device itself.

Coming of the Galaxy S26 family

By the way, we may have some time to get used to the idea, Samsung is not introducing the Galaxy S26 family until early 2026. It remains to be seen exactly what that family will consist of. The arrival of the Galaxy S26 seems certain, as does that of the S26 Ultra. But whether we will also see an S26+ or just a S26 Edge remains to be seen.
