New Oppo A5 5G lasts a long time and doesn't cost much

Oppo has launched the A5 5G. A smartphone with a 6000 mAh large battery that feels like new for 48 months, according to the company. For the price, you don't have to worry, very expensive the Oppo A5 5G is not.

These are quite a few claims Oppo is making. For example, the Oppo A5 5G will feel smooth for 48 months, which is 4 years. That was tested in the lab by simulating daily use. The battery, which is already very spacious at 6000 mAh, will still have 80% of its original capacity after 5 years. And then Oppo also promises three Android upgrades and 6 years of security updates.

Yet you don't even have to pay €200 for all this. You then get a 6.67-inch screen with a smooth 120Hz display, bright 1000-nits and with Glove Touch making it suitable for gloves up to 5 millimeters thick. The casing can take a beating and withstand the elements thanks to an IP65 rating and MIL-STD-810H certification.

Camera with Dual-View Video

On the camera front, we can report that there is a 50MP main camera on the back with a 2MP secondary lens to recognize depth. This allows you to shoot nice portrait photos with depth of field. On the front is an 8MP selfie camera and you can use Dual-View Video to record images from both cameras. Ideal for filming your own reaction and someone else's.

The Oppo A5 runs Colors 15 which is based on Android 15 and comes with some AI features. For example, you can erase unwanted objects from photos thanks to Object Eraser and make blurred photos sharp with AI Clarity Enhancer. And with Smart Image Matting, you cut out people from photos to turn them into stickers.

You can buy an Oppo A5 5G starting at €199 with 4+128GB of storage only in the color Black Green. The device is available starting today in Oppo's own online store and soon through other carriers, among others.
