HMD Skyline 2 early photo, specifications also leaked

The HMD Skyline announced in July of 2024 will soon get a successor. Pictures of the Skyline 2 surfaced from an X user along with some specifications. Finnish HMD is also said to be on the verge of announcing its first smartwatch.

The photo below looks suspiciously like the existing HMD Skyline but it is really the Skyline 2 according to X user smashx_60. This is evident because the first one was not available in a black version with aluminum frame.

We can also compare both phones as we also get a handful of specifications from the same X user;

• 6.55" pOLED screen, 144Hz, 1200 nits
• Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor
• 108+50+13MP rear camera
• 50MP selfie camera
• 5000mAh battery + 33W fast charging + Qi2 wireless charging with magnets
• Android 15 + 3 years of OS upgrades
• IP54 waterproof
• Self Repair Gen2

From this we can conclude that the HMD Skyline 2 gets a slightly brighter screen, a new generation Snapdragon processor and a slightly larger battery capacity. Not really worth upgrading, then. That's where HMD has the Skyline 2 GT in mind.

HMD Skyline 2 GT

This version gets a 2000 nits bright screen, 108+50+50 camera setup, faster 45W charging, 12GB of RAM memory and a better IP67 waterproof case. Also, the display of the Skyline 2 GT will be rounded while that of the Skyline 2 will not. This will make the GT look slightly more premium.

The same source also casually mentions the existence of the HMD Pulse 2, Crest 2, Hyper and XR22. These are all phones we can expect to see in the near future. So are the Rubber 1 and 1S; HMD's first smartwatches. According to rumors, both smartwatches run Wear OS and the first one will be equipped with a 2MP camera. We haven't seen such smartwatches in a long time.
