Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge may replace the S26 Plus in 2026

Now that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is official, it is time to look forward to next year's S26 Edge. That one may be announced soon as the model may replace the S26+. Crazy is not that idea as explained here.

Samsung has been releasing a larger version of its popular Galaxy S phone under the Plus name for years. Now that the Galaxy S25 Edge with the same screen size as the Plus has joined the lineup, the need for a larger version expires. And so we may not get an S26 Plus at all next year.

Successor S25 Edge may come as early as early 2026

If that idea sounds familiar to you, that may be true. Apple is also considering this strategy for its iPhone 17 Air. That model may replace the iPhone 17 Plus although the Air has yet to be officially announced.

A successor after only six months

And so the successor to the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge will be announced after only six months. In fact, Samsung is introducing its new Galaxy S family early in the new year. The larger Plus model never sold as well as the entry-level Galaxy S and the more expensive and comprehensive Ultra.

Replacing the Plus with the Edge also gives Samsung a chance to sell more expensive phones. While the Plus was more expensive than the entry-level Galaxy S, it was not as much more expensive as the Edge is relative to the entry-level model. Whether Samsung really wants to go through with this plan will depend on the sales figures of the S25 Edge. That one is currently on sale and will be in stores May 27.
