New Sony Xperia 1 VII is here, looks old

Sony has announced its new Xperia flagship; the Xperia 1 VII. The device only looks like a year-old device because of its virtually unchanged appearance. Something you don't see reflected in the price, by the way.
One takes the best Bravia screen Sony makes, puts the best Alpha cameras behind it and crams in a walkman and lo and behold; the Sony Xperia 1 VII. The result in a quirky phone that doesn't hobble along with the trend but stubbornly follows its own path. Oh and would you mind shelling out €1499 for that.
Sony thinks this is reasonable for a phone that comes with built-in AI features this time around. Part of Xperia Intelligence is Human pose estimation. This uses AI to see if the person has the right pose for the perfect portrait photo. And AI Camerawork makes sure the subject is always kept in the center of the frame.
New "ultra" wide angle
New to the Xperia 1 VII is the larger 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera. This is 2.1x larger than in the Xperia 1 VI and therefore takes clearer shots in the dark. Sony even claims it approaches the quality of a full-frame camera. The other cameras have remained the same, including the 52MP main camera and the 12MP telephoto with variable f/2.3-3.5 aperture. Interestingly, the viewing angle of the ultra-wide-angle camera is not very wide at 104°.

Sony is and remains one of the few that still uses screen bezels so the selfie camera is not in the screen but above it. There is also a physical shutter button for the camera, although we are seeing it increasingly used by others. There is also still just a 3.5mm input for your wired headphones.
Temporarily with free Sony WH-1000XM5
