Bayern Munich agree £65.5m deal to sign Luis Diaz from Liverpool

Bayern Munich have agreed a £65.5million deal to sign Luis Diaz from Liverpool, according to multiple reports.
The Colombia international had expressed a desire to leave Anfield and is now set to sign a four-year contract at the Allianz Arena.
Diaz’s move will bring to an end a three-and-a-half-year spell at Liverpool, one in which he lifted the Premier League title as well as the FA Cup and the EFL Cup twice. He also tasted defeat in the Champions League final in 2022 as the Reds were beaten by Real Madrid.
The forward scored 41 goals in 148 games for Liverpool, and will hope to have a similar impact for the Bundesliga champions.
Diaz is set to become Bayern’s third signing of the transfer window following a season that saw them reclaim the Bundesliga crown from Bayer Leverkusen.
Vincent Kompany’s men have signed centre-back Jonathan Tah from Leverkusen and teenage midfielder Tom Bischof from Hoffenheim. Diaz will help fill the void left by Thomas Muller, the veteran who made his final appearance for the club this month at the Club World Cup as his 25-year association with Bayern came to an end.
Liverpool may replace Diaz with Real Madrid’s Rodrygo Goes, who has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield.
More pertinently, the departure of Diaz is seen as key to Liverpool’s potential plans to make a British-record move for Newcastle star Alexander Isak.
Isak has told Newcastle of his desire to explore opportunities to leave St James’ Park. The Sweden international scored 27 goals in all competitions last season, including the second goal at Wembley as Newcastle beat Liverpool 2-1 in the EFL Cup to secure their first domestic major trophy for 70 years.
It is thought that a £150million bid would be required for Newcastle to even start a conversation about selling Isak. For now, the Magpies have remained insistent that he is not for sale.
