Barcelona wonderkid joins Paul Pogba at Monaco

Ansu Fati has joined Monaco on a season-long loan from Barcelona.
The 22-year-old made his Barca debut at 16 but has not progressed and, having fallen well down the pecking order at Camp Nou, has opted to try his luck in Ligue 1.
As part of the deal, Fati extended his contract with the Blaugrana to 2028 but Monaco have the option to make the loan deal permanent in the summer of 2026 for a fee in the region of €11million.

Fati will play alongside Paul Pogba next season as Monaco look to improve on last season’s third-placed finish.
The Guinea-Bissau-born forward has been beset by injuries over recent years and is in need of games.
He joined Brighton on loan for the 2023-24 season, playing 27 times, but found opportunities hard to come by on his return to Catalonia.
He played just 11 times last season under Hansi Flick and the club were eager to get him off the books in order to free up cash for other targets.
Barca are reported to be covering one third of the player’s €12m-a-year wages, enough for them to potentially conclude their deal for Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams.
