Amorim warns Garnacho to ‘pray’ a club will buy him from Manchester United this summer

Ruben Amorim reportedly has made it very clear that Alejandro Garnacho is no longer part of his plans.

Sources suggest that Amorim’s frustration reached a tipping point as he told Garnacho to hope he can find a new club before the start of pre-season training in July.

“You better pray that you can find a club to sign you,” Amorim allegedly told Garnacho in front of the entire squad, leaving little doubt about the 20-year-old Argentine’s future at Old Trafford.

The club, however, has declined to comment on any internal dressing-room discussions.

Tensions appear to have erupted following Manchester United’s defeat to Tottenham in the Europa League final in Bilbao.

Garnacho and his brother Roberto were reportedly angered by the winger’s late introduction off the bench, where he played less than 20 minutes.

“Obviously it’s hard for everyone,” Garnacho admitted at the San Mames. “Our season was s***. We didn’t beat anyone in the league. We lacked a lot of things. When you don’t score goals, you always need more.

“Until we reached the final, I played every round. And I played 20 minutes today – I don’t know. I’m going to try to enjoy the summer and see what happens next.”

Adding fuel to the fire, Garnacho’s brother accused Amorim of “throwing him under the bus” after the final.

Amorim is believed to have secured approval from the club’s hierarchy during a board meeting in Monaco on Friday, paving the way for Garnacho’s departure.

By Saturday lunchtime, Amorim addressed the press, cryptically saying: “Everything I have to say, I say it to the players.” But behind the scenes, he had already told Garnacho to find a new home.

Although Garnacho has joined United’s post-season tour of Malaysia and Hong Kong, there are growing concerns about the club’s ability to secure his true market value now that his departure seems inevitable.

Manchester United had previously valued Garnacho at between £60-70 million, but with Amorim’s ultimatum in the open, suitors such as Chelsea and Napoli – both of whom have shown long-term interest – will be emboldened to negotiate a cut-price deal.
